2024 year model

A Standard Model in the EMERALDAS Line Focused on Basic Performance

The EMERALDAS X, a standard model dedicated to eging, has been renewed with enhanced basic performance and operability.

The previous model, the 19 EMERALDAS, was well-received as an introductory eging reel with high basic performance, dressed in the EMERALDAS design. This new iteration upgrades the rotor material from DS4 to ZAION V, achieving both weight reduction and increased rigidity. Furthermore, the adoption of AIRDRIVE DESIGN improves weight balance, reducing the feeling of heaviness during prolonged use. This reduction in perceived weight enhances high maneuverability, crucial for controlling the lure with precision during repetitive casting and retrieving.

The AIRDRIVE ROTOR, with its spherical cut-out design, and the specially angled AIRDRIVE BAIL work together to minimize line trouble.

The drag system features ATD TYPE-L, which improves initial response. Given that the main line used in eging is often a thin PE 0.6 line, the quick landing capability and prevention of line breakage provided by ATD TYPE-L ensure peace of mind during actual fishing.

AIRDRIVE ROTOR

Low inertia is the key.
The newly developed AIRDRIVE ROTOR is made from ZAION. Maintaining the strength of the rotor from 18 EXIST, DAIWA has been able to reduce the weight significantly. Designed with focus to create a perfectly round structure, trouble free and flawless rotation have been achieved.
The rotor unit itself has seen a 16% weight reduction compared to the previous model (Based on 2500 size reel) and will set the standard for what future rotor design of small spinning reels will be.

AIRDRIVE BAIL

Trouble free future.
DAIWA has constructed a bail smaller in diameter whilst providing required strength to achieve a further weight reduction to the front unit. In comparison to 18 EXIST, AIRDRIVE BAIL reduces the weight of the bail by 33% (compared to 2500 size).
DAIWA has adjusted the angle of bail setting to improve the line movement into the roller. Careful attention was given to the roller and slider and individual design alterations were done for each size of 22 EXIST, perfectly adjusting the line management for each size of the reel.

ATD TYPE L

New ATD TYPE-L drag technology improves the initial drag system response. Lowering the peak drag max upon hook setting. Light tackle fishing especially requires a responsive and sensitive adjustment of the drag pressure.

ATD TYPE-L allows anglers to have more control of the drag without stress during the fight. By not overloading the line and also causing less stress to the fish, powerful fish can be tamed easily with 22 EXIST.

ZAION V

Lighter and stronger reels. The carbon hybrid resin developed for this purpose is ZION V (V = Versatile). By precisely controlling the amount of carbon used in the hybrid, we have achieved a high level of lightness that surpasses metal and strength that rivals metal, as well as versatility that allows it to be used in a wide range of reels. It inherits the essence of ZION, which can be said to be the MAX spec of carbon hybrid resin.

MAGSEALED

The Mag Sealed principle is based on special magnetic oil, which has been developed by the NASA to transport fuel to the space ships based on the magnetic principle. Such oil for reel production is not available in the market. It has to be manufactured under most difficult circumstances. The embedded ferric oxide, which is necessary for the magnetic field, has a diameter of 1/100.000mm.
The molecules in this new "metal oil" are capable of changing. If they are exposed to a magnetic field, they change their shape and the oil forms a fluid seal.
Such a seal, based on the principle of liquid magnetic oil produces nearly no friction, isolates perfectly and prevents even penetration of dust particles.
The big challenge for the DAIWA engineers was the development of a reel, which is designed for the principle of the magnetic oil to generate a kind of liquid membrane that prevents water penetration.
The Mag Sealed design is based on the purpose to keep water away from a spinning reel. First of all for sea anglers this is an amazing idea - since delivers a longer life span; no corrosion and better, pro longed function. If salt water penetrates the reel and dries, it crystallizes, corrodes the gearing and affects the ball bearings. Mag Sealed halts the travel of salt particles.
